What’s the best memory from your childhood? I am sure some of you are probably thinking about a specific family trip or a very special birthday. Others, like me, will also mention some of the “small” things from your childhood, like playing with your siblings, going camping, or even just waking up to the smell of pancakes on a Sunday morning.
Some of the best memories from my childhood are playing with my cousins at my grandma’s house and taking road trips with my parents. As a single child, I can say that my parents and I spent a lot of quality time together. Sure we went on trips and made some fun memories, but there are so many other things that remind me of those happy times... Every time I listen to one of my favorite albums, it takes me back to a summer trip we did. Every time I smell chocolate cake, it takes me back to my birthday parties.
As a parent, there are many activities you can do to make memories with your kiddos! Here is a list of them:
- Have game nights
- Go shopping
- Take a road trip
- Sing in the car
- Read together
- Watch the sunset
- Make homemade pizza
- Have a carwash
- Go stargazing
- Have a movie night
- Go on a picnic
- Go camping
- Spend a day at the beach or the lake
- Learn about family history
- Cuddle
- Go to church together
- Play games in the car
- Go to a sports event
- See a play
- Play in the rain
I really hope you try some of these with your kids! Even if you don’t have kids of your own, try them with your nephews and nieces, or your little cousins. As someone who had a very happy childhood, I can say that I am sure those little moments will give them very nice memories to look back on when they are older.
