7 Ways to Make Any Chore Fun

Who said doing chores can't be fun? Some people enjoy a day of cleaning up around the house, while others dread it. If you're like the majority, and can't stand to deal with chores, then you may need some encouragement. Here are seven ways to make any chore fun:
1. Make a Cleaning Playlist
Jam out while cleaning! Create a playlist of all those songs that make you get up, dance, and sing along. Imagine your playlist as your own personal concert. The music will help keep the mood light and feel like a party. Don't forget to add some good throwback songs!
2. Buy Good-Looking Tools
Chores are inherently boring, buying attractive tools may encourage you to use them. Get a cleaning set in your favorite color or buy supplies that double as home décor. Having a beautifully crafted broom and dustpan set will make you more inclined to sweep than a raggedy old broom sitting in the back of a dark closet. Splurge on a cool gadget that you will want to use all the time.
3. Get a Partner
Everything is more fun when you have a partner! Team up with someone to tackle those chores or make it a party and invite the entire family. Play a game of "Would your rather?" stretching everyone's imagination while sharing funny responses. Doing the dishes can be more fun when there's an assembly line filled with jokes and fun conversations.
4. Have a Reward Waiting At the End
You've worked hard and now it's time for a reward! Give yourself and anyone helping something in return for the work. Have a delicious snack or a relaxing night watching tv waiting for when you finish. Come up with incentives that would make anyone want to finish their chores. It doesn't have to be big or expensive but you deserve something.
5. Get a Cute Cleaning Outfit
Put on a cute apron or a nice outfit for the house. Getting dressed up will set the mood making you feel confident while tackling those pesky chores. Decide whether to include doing hair and makeup. Be inspired with a cute pair of overalls and a bandana!
6. Make it a Game
Whether you're alone or working alongside someone make your chores into a fun game. Try to race the clock or others to see who is the fastest at folding clothes, or doing the dishes. Want to get the kids involved? Make a scavenger hunt! Play Bingo with missing items that need to be found. Don't forget to set a rule stating the place must be cleaned to win or else the kids will make more of a mess looking for the items.
7. Watch TV, Movie or Listen to a Podcast, Audiobook
Fold laundry while watching a movie, or listen to a murder mystery while cleaning the bathroom. Include entertainment in the background to help the time pass by. Remember don't get distracted, keep it light and simple, or else you won't get any chores done.
Make chores something to look forward to doing. Try one of these tips or mix and match to find the ones that get you most excited to do housework.
