Pedal the Cause Inspired weekend
Updated: Sep 24, 2020

I would be shocked if there was one person who didn't know someone who was diagnosed with cancer. It sucks that so many people know someone who has been diagnosed or they are the person who has been diagnosed. I'm sick of hearing about people I love getting cancer and I know I'm not alone. That's why it's so important to support events like Pedal the Cause. Their mission is to provide critical funding for cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children’s Hospital through their annual cycling challenge. It is their hope that research funded by Pedal the Cause will ultimately lead to a cure for cancer.
We all know events look different in 2020 due to the pandemic. That's no different for Pedal the Cause:
"Pedal the Cause, the region’s largest peer-to-peer fundraising event, is adapting its 2020 bike ride in order to maintain its commitment to fund vital cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children’s Hospital while prioritizing the safety of its riders, volunteers and supporters. In 2019, Pedal the Cause celebrated its tenth year with 3,725 riders and spinners, 522 kids, and over 1,100 volunteers working in tandem to raise $4.74 million. This year Pedal the Cause Inspired will take place on September 26 and 27 and offer participants the opportunity to choose their own physical challenge: biking, spinning, running, walking or another activity. Participants will complete these challenges on their own, in small groups, or together with their families throughout the weekend all connected through a livestream Inspirational Program and various interactive opportunities."

Brian and I have committed to each completing a 5K over the course of this weekend to raise funds and awareness for cancer research. I will keep you posted on our progress throughout the weekend on IG - @JillDevine and Facebook - @JillDevineMedia.
One final thought, how many times do you tell yourself you need to be more present? I know I do ALL THE TIME. I'm so guilty of it and need reminders like the video you are about to watch. I cannot even imagine what goes through Stacy Abeles' head every day. Please watch this video and then pause for a moment. I want you to think about what her family is going through every day. Actually every minute. It should INSPIRE you to donate.
Visit the donation page to make a donation. I will leave you with:
"The need to fund cancer research has not gone away amidst the pandemic," said BJC President and Chief Executive Officer Rich Liekweg. "We are thrilled that Pedal the Cause has reimagined this year's event and will once again be engaging our community to take action. The funds we receive from Pedal the Cause are vitally important to our world-class cancer research and translational cancer care both at Siteman Cancer Center and Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children's Hospital. Your participation will have real impact on cancer patients here and around the world, and that can inspire us all."
